Virginia Beach is on our horizon! Ranger Rendezvous 48 heads back to this popular destination, which was home to Ranger Rendezvous 17 in 1993. Be ready to Ride the Tide, focusing on wellness and resiliency. This year’s program will include timely information on wellness and resiliency in a time when it is needed most. Here, participants will be able to come together in a supportive environment to attend training, round-table discussions, and seminars on best practices to support staff who are constantly working to enhance productivity and efficiency in parks.
This conference will include work on conserved areas across the United States, and the organization is planning field trips to consult with staff from sites like Colonial National Historical Park and Yorktown Battlefield. We will share information about the program and invite proposals from presenters in 2025 as it develops.
As always, the Rendezvous will include a relaxed side as well, with other options for local exploration, networking, and social events. We will hold our ever-popular photo contest and daily raffle and silent auction.
Rendezvous headquarters will be at the Wyndham Hotel, Oceanfront Virginia Beach. Learn more about the venue on their website, here.
The Association of National Park Rangers Board of Directors selected this venue based on a competitive bid process that reduces costs for attendees. ANPR prioritizes selecting venues based on their proximity to national parks where staff can consult with attendees and demonstrate work practices in the field, the availability of efficient travel options, and to minimize overall cost to attendees. This location could also prove beneficial, as it is closer to larger population centers, and we can perhaps attract a larger number of attendees who are willing to collaborate and network for the greater good of the National Park Service.
The $109 (plus tax) rate is available to registered participants, and registration opens May 1, 2025. We will provide the link here after May 1.
Anyone who has not previously attended a Rendezvous can submit an application to be selected as a Supernaugh Scholar. Selectees gain several benefits, including:
• Training opportunities
• One year membership in ANPR
• Free Rendezvous registration
• Free hotel room
• Transportation subsidy of $500
Applications will open June 15, when an application link will be provided. Applications close Aug. 1, 2025. Scholars will be expected to provide assistance to Rendezvous managers. If you want to consider donating to support first-time attendee’s participation at Ranger Rendezvous 48, select Supernaugh Scholarship on the Association of National Park Rangers donation page or by clicking here.
If you have raffle or auction items to donate, we will greatly appreciate them. Please contact our Board Member for Fundraising, Jenn Cook, at jcook@anpr.org.
We are currently working on a robust programming schedule and encourage anyone with expertise and an interest to present to contact us. Please email Program Coordinator Jamie Richards at jrichards@anpr.org for application details.
See you all in October!
