Ranger Rendezvous 48

Oct. 14-18, 2025

Ranger Rendezvous 48

Virginia Beach is on our horizon! Ranger Rendezvous 48 heads back to this popular destination, which was home to Ranger Rendezvous 17 in 1993. Be ready to Ride the Tide, focusing on wellness and resiliency. This year’s program will include timely information on wellness and resiliency in a time when it is needed most. Here, participants will be able to come together in a supportive environment to attend training, round-table discussions, and seminars on best practices to support staff who are constantly working to enhance productivity and efficiency in parks.

This conference will include work on conserved areas across the United States, and the organization is planning field trips to consult with staff from sites like Colonial National Historical Park and Yorktown Battlefield. We will share information about the program and invite proposals from presenters in 2025 as it develops.

As always, the Rendezvous will include a relaxed side as well, with other options for local exploration, networking, and social events. We will hold our ever-popular photo contest and daily raffle and silent auction.

LODGING

Rendezvous headquarters will be at the Wyndham Hotel, Oceanfront Virginia Beach. Learn more about the venue on their website, here

The Association of National Park Rangers Board of Directors selected this venue based on a competitive bid process that reduces costs for attendees. ANPR prioritizes selecting venues based on their proximity to national parks where staff can consult with attendees and demonstrate work practices in the field, the availability of efficient travel options, and to minimize overall cost to attendees. This location could also prove beneficial, as it is closer to larger population centers, and we can perhaps attract a larger number of attendees who are willing to collaborate and network for the greater good of the National Park Service.

The $109 (plus tax) rate is available to registered participants, and registration opens May 1, 2025. You must call the hotel direct and request the discounted rate. That number will be sent upon registration, and is also available on the members-side of the website.

Field Trips

We will offer two field trip options to National Park units in the area. Choose from one of these. If you have alreadyy registered, you may go back into your registration and select, "I have already regisered. I want to add an add-on."

Field Trip #1 Fort Monroe National Monument: Established in 2011, Fort Monroe provides an excellent opportunity to observe and understand Chesapeake Bay and Civil War history, as well as many other significant stories. For example, it was the site of General Benjamin Butler's "Contraband Decision" in 1861, which provided a pathway to freedom for thousands of enslaved people during the Civil War and served as a forerunner of President Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation of 1863. A guided tour, that includes visits to locations not generally available to the public, will make for a fascinating experience. Travel time: 45 minutes

Field Trip #2 Yorktown Battlefield (part of Colonial National Historical Park): The location of the final major battle of the Revolutionary War, the site provides a deep understanding of the events leading up to the battle, as well as the dramatic Siege of Yorktown. As a deepwater port on the York River, the site was also a significant economic engine on the eastern seaboard in the 18th and 19th centuries. A ranger-led tour will provide the strategic details of how the events of September - October 1781 unfolded, and forever shaped the country’s history. Travel time: 75 minutes

See you all in October!
