Virginia Beach, Va. — Ranger Rendezvous 48 began on Tuesday, Oct. 14, with a meeting of the organization’s Board of Directors. Among other issues, the board discussed the state of the ranger profession in a time of uncertainty, discussed strategies to address staff needs resulting from the lapse in appropriations, and discussed strategies to support staff in the field.
“This is a hard time to be a ranger,” Rick Mossman, Association of National Park Rangers president, said. “ANPR prioritizes the people who make park conservation possible. We are providing a venue so that our members can support each other in times of uncertainty and stress.”
