FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Nashville, Tenn. (April 21, 2025) — The Hello in There Foundation is proud to announce a collaboration with Oxford Pennant to celebrate the legacy of John Prine and support the National Park Rangers who protect America’s treasured landscapes, cultural landmarks, and historical heritage sites. Known for their vintage-inspired wool and cotton banners, Oxford Pennant has created a limited-edition camp flag and patch inspired by Prine’s lyrics and his lifelong love for our National Parks. These exclusive items pay tribute to Prine’s deep connection to America’s beautiful parks and to honor the park rangers who safeguard it.
100% of proceeds from the sale of these items will benefit the Ranger Relief Fund, an initiative of the Association of National Park Rangers. This fund provides critical financial support to park staff who currently face unexpected financial challenges.
The Hello in There Foundation, founded by Fiona Whelan Prine in memory of her late husband, works to carry on John’s legacy by supporting the people and communities he held dear — from artists and working-class individuals to environmental stewards.
“We’re honored to collaborate with Oxford Pennant on this project,” said Fiona Whelan Prine. “John’s love for America’s wild places began in childhood and continued throughout his life. We passed that love on to our children during our RV adventures in the Smokies and Yellowstone, to the Redwood Forests. We firmly believe that National Park workers are essential — and now is the time to show them our gratitude.”
Timed to coincide with National Parks Week, the campaign also sheds light on the current crisis within the National Park Service. According to the National Parks Conservation Association, an estimated 12% of the agency’s full-time workforce — roughly 1,800 to 2,000 employees — has left since January, with more expected in the coming weeks.
ANPR's Ranger Relief Fund exists to help park employees who are ANPR members meet basic needs during times of financial distress — providing everything from housing assistance to emergency medical support.
The limited-edition John Prine tribute camp flag and patch are available now at www.thehellointherefoundation.org. All profits will directly support the Ranger Relief Fund.
