Examining the Impacts of USA Hire

The Association of National Park Rangers (ANPR) is committed to promoting an equitable and transparent federal hiring process. In recent weeks, ANPR has become aware of concerns over the rollout of USA Hire, a supplementary assessment designed to "measure general competencies and soft skills critical to the job".

We need your assistance to ensure we are informed on this topic.

If you are a hiring official or job seeker, your feedback on our brief survey would be invaluable in helping us address these concerns. Please select one of buttons below to anonymously share your story.

Survey Response

As ANPR continues to receive input from Rangers in the field, the feedback received has been decidedly one-sided. ANPR continues to take all feedback into account as it formulates a response to this issue. As of April 30, 2021 we've received input from 86 job seekers and 5 hiring officials.

Data posted based on responses received through April 30th, 2021

ANPR is pleased to share that after collecting this information, making our findings available, and conveying our concerns, preliminary reports are showing that the USA Hire Assessment is not being required or recommended for the hiring of seasonals and term employees.

Further, HR Specialists did say that they are working with OPM to get further guidance on what secondary assessments would be appropriate for the high volume of applicants for seasonal positions.

While ANPR supports these developments, they are still preliminary reports and we will continue to seek out information on the topic.
