Volunteer Opportunities

Here is another chance to support your organization! Sometimes specific volunteer tasks are posted here (see below) but we almost always have other projects where we could use your help with something already in progress — or perhaps a proposal of your own. We urge you to contact the president or any board member regarding your interests and willingness to assist ANPR. See the Officers page.

Important task leaders for ANPR
ANPR is seeking several people to undertake interesting and necessary tasks for the organization. Please consider lending your expertise to the tasks listed below. Together we can keep ANPR strong.

  • Exhibitors Coordinator — Take over the Ranger Rendezvous exhibitors fundraising program. This involves locating vendors during the year, and then being at the Rendezvous to get them set up, arranging events in the exhibition area (along with site coordinators Dan Moses and Mike Pflaum), and communicating with the ANPR board about progress during the year.

  • Membership Assistants — Call lapsed members and encourage them to rejoin, or if they are unwilling to rejoin try to find out what ANPR could have done differently to keep them as members.

  • Regular Raffle Coordinator — Handle most details of the Ranger Rendezvous regular raffle. This involves reminding folks before Rendezvous to bring or send raffle items, storing and moving items at Rendezvous, pulling the tickets and awarding the prizes in front of the audience, and sending out thank-you letters for donations.

  • Super Raffle Assistant — Be an apprentice to Dave Anderson for the Ranger Rendezvous Super Raffle. This is his last year coordinating this important fundraising event. The Super Raffle involves locating the prizes, getting the tickets printed and mailed, counting and organizing returned tickets at Rendezvous, pulling the winning tickets in front of the audience at Rendezvous, notifying winners and getting them their prizes, and sending thank-you letters for any donated prizes.

  • Rendezvous Judge — Explaining and soliciting fines and reading the fines in front of the audience at Rendezvous. (This is a fun, humorous job.)

  • Merchandise Sales Coordinator — Assume leadership of the ANPR merchandise sales program, ordering merchandise, mailing it out during the year when orders are received, transporting the merchandise to Rendezvous, and working the sales table at Rendezvous.

  • Fund Raising Committee — We need members on the Fund Raising Committee. More details to follow soon.

  • Election Committee — We need to re-establish an Election Nomination Committee. This involves locating members interested in running for Board of Directors positions, providing them with information to make their decision about running, and sometimes giving potential candidates positive reinforcement.

  • Reorganization Committee — A past president has asked ANPR to consider a reorganization of the Board of Directors to bring back some or all of the regional representatives we once had to increase communication and activism in the members. Another idea is to split out the Board Member for Professional Issues into members for the different disciplines, such as Professional Issues – Interpretation, Professional Issues – Maintenance, Professional Issues – Resource Management, Professional Issues – Protection, Professional Issues – Administration & Management. This may increase our ability to recruit members outside the 0025 series because they have a specific board position representing their work discipline/issues. We need a committee to examine these issues and report to the board.

  • Rendezvous Program Co-Chairs — This task is more time consuming than two hours per week. It involves finding speakers and workshop presenters, and working closely with the Rendezvous site coordinator to offer a quality conference agenda that will draw maximum participants.
