Pacific West Regional Director Jon Jarvis began his 26-year NPS career as a seasonal interpreter in the Washington, D.C., parks.

He moved up through the organization as a protection ranger, resource management specialist, park biologist and chief of natural and cultural resources through Prince William, Guadalupe Mountains, Crater Lake, and North Cascades.

Jarvis served as superintendent at Craters of the Moon, Wrangell-St. Elias and Mount Rainier. Regional director since 2002, he oversees 54 NPS units in Washington, Idaho, Oregon, California, Hawaii and the Pacific Islands.
