ANPR Health Insurance — Aetna PPO Affordable Health Choices

First, you must be an ANPR member to qualify for the insurance. Sign up beforehand or at the same time as enrolling in the insurance program. Your insurance payment must be made for six months in advance, plus the $15 administrative fee, before your coverage will become effective. Do not send in your insurance enrollment form without payment.

ANPR's health insurance plan — Aetna PPO Affordable Health Choices (SM)— is available to all ANPR members, including (but not limited to) seasonal park workers, fire crew members, volunteers, park partners and others who don’t receive insurance benefits through their employers. In addition, coverage is possible for spouses and family of ANPR members.

Coverage will be effective on the first day of the month following submission of your enrollment form and payment by check for six months in advance. (For instance, if you sign up and send in your payment anytime by the end of a month, coverage can begin the first of the next month.) The coverage is a limited accident and sickness insurance plan. A member will have access to the Aetna network of health care professionals, about 735,000 nationwide.

Here are other features of the plan:

  • Affordable rate of $99.46/month for individuals, ($248.48 monthly for member + 1; $355.94 monthly for family), and must be paid in advance for a six-month period, to ANPR. At the beginning of our new contract year on March 1, 2012, medical rates increase to $104.43/month for individuals ($260.91 for member + 1).

    Also, ANPR is assessing an additional $15 per six-month period to cover our administrative costs of this program.

  • Five doctor’s office visits annually, copayment of $10 per visit; emergency room benefits
  • Maximum coverage annually of $10,000 for inpatient care
  • Prescription drug coverage ($10 copayment for generic, $20 for brand)
  • Wellness coverage for preventive care
  • Eyewear discounts

The health insurance can continue year-round as long as the plan is paid in advance and the enrollee remains an ANPR member.

NOTE: Optional features of the Aetna plan are dental insurance for $19.28 per month ($38.60 for member + one; $63.72 for family); $20,000 in term life insurance for $6.68 per month ($8.16 for member + family); hospital indemnity; vision; and short-term disability (see the enrollment form for current rates of these last three options). These are optional plans; you need not choose them along with the medical plan. If you decide to select them, however, you must pay for six months in advance and add it to the above-mentioned payment total.
