ANPR Elections

February 2010

These ANPR members have won election to the board of directors:

  • President Elect: Stacy Allen (president elect for 2010, president in 2011-2013, past president in 2014-15)
    He is the chief ranger at Shiloh National Military Park. With 25 years experience as a program manager in visitor service and resource management, he worked at Vicksburg from 1984-89 before coming to Shiloh. He is a life member of ANPR and currently is in a second term as the board member for strategic concerns.

  • Board Member for Fundraising Activities: Charissa Reid (term expires Dec. 31, 2012)
    She is a historian at Yellowstone and has worked for the National Park Service since 1980 in Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Rocky Mountain, Grand Canyon, Badlands, Joshua Tree, Death Valley and Pinnacles. Her broad experience includes jobs as a clerk, dispatcher and interpreter.

  • Board Member for Membership Services: Liam Strain (term expires Dec. 31, 2012)
    He is a management assistant at Gateway National Recreation Area. He first started with the NPS as a summer seasonal interpreter while an undergraduate student. After nine years of seasonal interpretatiion and resource management positions at a number of units (Statue of Liberty, Federal Hall and Castle Clinton) he accepted a permanent position as a laborer. He began a permanent park ranger position in 1998 and has held a job in that series ever since. He has experience as a first responder, wildland fire management, wireless communications, motorboat operations, interpretation techniques and methods, and grant writing - among others. In 2007 he earned a master's degree in public administration from Columbia University, specifically in environmental science and policy. It included graduate-level climate and natural science courses.

In addition, this member was elected to serve the remaining year of a term expiring Dec. 31, 2010:
Board Member for Special Concerns: Amy Gilbert
She is a park ranger at Arlington House: The Robert E. Lee Memorial and a graduate student in political management at George Washington University. She is concentrating on advocacy, with specific focus on environmental lobbying.

February 2009

These ANPR members are new additions to the board of directors, with three-year terms expiring Dec. 31, 2011:

  • Treasurer: Bill Schappell
  • Board Member for Education and Training: Rebecca Harriett
  • Board Member for Internal Communications: Eric Leonard
  • Board Member for Strategic Planning: Stacy Allen

In addition, this member was elected to serve the remaining year of a term expiring Dec. 31, 2009:

  • Board Member for Fund Raising Activities: Kendell Thompson

In February 2009 the board appointed this member to serve the remaining two years of a term expiring Dec. 31, 2010:

  • Board Member for Seasonal Perspectives: Tom Banks
