David Christenson has been at the Wildland Fire Lessons Learned Center since September 2002. He co-manages the Lessons Learned Center, the MyFireCommunity Center, and the new Incident Management Team Center.

The three centers assist the entire interagency wildland fire community in improving organizational learning. He serves on Oltrogge's Type 1 IMT as a GIS specialist and teaches with the GPS for fire management and ICS training cadre.

Christenson came to the Lessons Learned Center after working in decision support system design and development. He served as the national education accounts manager and Midwest regional manager for the Site Specific Technology Development Group Inc. for two years.

Previously he worked with the USDA as an interdisciplinary soil conservationist (GIS and remote sensing) managing the New Mexico Rangeland Remote Sensing Project with the Natural Resources Conservation Service and the National Agricultural Statistics Service. He was a master sergeant in the U.S. Air Force primarily working with jet fighter aircraft.

Christenson has a master's degree in applied geography and a bachelor's degree in regional and city planning from New Mexico State University. He has 12 years in a regional men's public speaking club, two as their president.
